Boxer suspended for anti-doping rule violations

A boxer, Shannon Drake, has been suspended by the Sports Tribunal for three months for the presence and use of cannabis, being a prohibited substance. The period of ineligibility represents a reduced sanction due to cannabis being a substance of abuse and it being taken out of competition. Mr Drake did not complete an approved treatment programme which meant he could not receive any further reductions. The period of ineligibility was backdated to the date of the Provisional Suspension Order on 30 July 2025, meaning that Mr Drake has served the ineligibility period.
