Fijian football player suspended for anti-doping rule violations

Fijian football player Inoke Turagalailai has been suspended by the Sports Tribunal for eight months for the presence and use of prohibited substances. The period of ineligibility represents a reduced sanction on the basis of proportionality and is backdated to 14 December 2023 due to a substantial delay between the taking of the sample and notification of the adverse analytical finding.

Appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport: This decision was subsequently appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport which reached a different view on the facts and overturned it. See: “Court of Arbitration for Sport – Sport Integrity Commission v Turagalailai (CAS 2024/A/10766)”
