Powerlifter suspended for anti-doping rule violations
Powerlifter Chris Kennedy has been suspended by the Sports Tribunal for two years from participating in all sports which are signatories to the Sport Anti-doping Rules (SADRs).
The Tribunal found Mr Kennedy to have not intentionally taken the substance. Mr Kennedy accepted the sanction and accepted that he would not get credit for the time he spent provisionally suspended as it was established that he had coached an athlete who was a member of an organisation that was a signatory to the SADRs. The SADRs provide that a breach of a provisional suspension order (PSO) will result in the eventual period of ineligibility not being backdated to the date of the Provisional Suspension Order.
