The Sports Tribunal has suspended recreational cricketer Tayden Smit for four years after finding that he committed Anti-Doping Rule Violations involving Methandienone (Dianabol), an anabolic agent prohibited at all times under the Sports Anti-Doping Rules.
The violations arose after New Zealand Customs intercepted a parcel addressed to Mr Smit containing Methandienone. The Tribunal found that Mr Smit had committed Anti-Doping Rule Violations for possession of a prohibited substance and attempted use of a prohibited substance.
The Tribunal imposed a four-year period of ineligibility, backdated to 26 May 2026, being the date of Mr Smit’s provisional suspension. Mr Smit is therefore ineligible to participate in competitive sport until 26 May 2030.
