Rugby League Player suspended for 1 month for anti-doping rule violation
The Sports Tribunal suspended an athlete for returning a positive test for cannabis. The revised SADR 2021 recognises “substances of abuse” and provides for a reduced sanction if an athlete completes an approved treatment programme. The athlete must complete the approved programme underway, or three months suspension will apply.

The Sports Tribunal dismissed the appeal by Abhinav Mani Manota against the decision of New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) not to select him for the New Zealand team for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Powerlifter suspended for two years for anti-doping rule violation
The Sports Tribunal has suspended powerlifter Sean Winters for two years for returning a positive test for Octodrine and its metabolite Heptaminol, which are specified substances prohibited in competition. The suspension was backdated to 19 July 2020, the date of the test, for the athlete’s timely admission.
