Sports Tribunal dismisses appeal of athlete to participate in World Half-Marathon Championships
The Sports Tribunal has dismissed an appeal against a decision of Athletics New Zealand not to give permission for Mr Wallis to compete at the World Half-Marathon Championships. Athletics New Zealand’s decision was based on the increasing risk that Covid-19 presented to its athletes.

Member of Surf Life Saving New Zealand suspended for nine months for anti-doping rule violation
The Sports Tribunal has suspended John Elsmore, a member of Surf Life Saving New Zealand, for nine months for returning a positive in-competition test result for 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid (a metabolite of THC). The suspension was backdated to 14 March 2020 in recognition of Mr Elsmore’s timely admission.

Member of MotorSport New Zealand suspended for ordering prohibited substances online
The Sports Tribunal has suspended Simeon Woolsey, a member of MotorSport New Zealand, for two years for ordering prohibited substances (Tamoxifen and Clomiphene) from an online pharmacy. The suspension was backdated to three months prior to the date of the provisional suspension in recognition of Mr Woolsey’s timely admission.

Gymnast suspended for two years for anti-doping rule violation
The Sports Tribunal has suspended gymnast Batuhan Yazici for two years for returning a positive test for methylphenidate metabolite Ritalinic acid, a Specified Substance prohibited in competition. The suspension was backdated to 5 October 2019 (the date of the test) for the athlete’s timely admission.

The Sports Tribunal has suspended powerlifter Jason Anderson for two years for returning a positive test for tamoxifen, a Specified Substance prohibited at all times. The suspension was backdated to 13 May 2019 (the date of the test) for the athlete’s timely admission.
